Several supplier have mounts in their catalog/web pages but a morning of phone calls establishes them NLA except for MACs. I'm also placing an order tonight. Total cost for 2 is about $73 incl shipping. According to research I've done the bolts are often in bad shape as well.
Incidentally the upper nut requires a 15/16" socket, not in everyone's kit. |

I think you can also use the ford truck motor mount rubbers and also the 1940 ford rubber motor mounts. That will save you lots of money.

I replaced my pads on a 50 Merc with pads I had for a 63 Studebaker Avanti, same thing.

Are we talking apples and oranges here? I not sure from the post, but looks like we might be comparing the price of the pads with the price of a kit that includes the bolts, hardware and pads.
Update: Looked on LMC and even as a kit the $73 price seems high (IF these are the same parts). Last edited by JSeery; 03-10-2017 at 01:57 PM. |

The late 49 through early 51 Mercury mount pads are different and use different larger diameter hardware plus they use them on the transmission too for the ones up through the early 51. The early 1949 stuff was he most oddball stuff made. There may be someone making those front ones now but they had to be rebuilt for a long time. 8M-6038 and 8M-6039 are the part numbers.

I unfortunately placed my order last night before seeing today's posts. Illustrations abound but no dimensions are available even in the Lincoln/Merc shop manual. Some phone clerks were insistent about the 8M6038 and 9 are larger than the F1 equivalent.
I will post the measurements of what I get from Mac's. And anyone else please do the same with the F1 or other motor mounts. We should get this settled for the benefit of those who follow our path. I'm not pleased about paying $26 for a single rubber available elsewhere for $6 and can only hope there is a meaningful size difference. |

The Mercury parts are vulcanized around a metal disc and are taller/thicker than the Ford parts plus they have a protrusion on the bottom that the lower cushion piece fits over like a pilot stub when placed through the mount hole in the frame. The shoulder bolts are unobtanium so I hope yours are still good. I make new ones with aircraft grade bolts and bushings.
I think Mac VanPelt handles them but I don't now who all might have them in stock. I see originals on flea-pay now and then but the rubber is likely 50-years old or better. |
