Default motor swap

Have a neighbor with a 50 F1.
I am trying to help him find a motor for it, his is full of cracks.
I found a 52 Merc motor disassembled but all the parts to rebuild, and the block has been cleaned, bored etc already and is good.
I know nothing about what motors fit what so I am asking. Will the 52 Merc car motor fit a 50 F1 without much issues??

Sure will. Use the truck bell housing and water pumps and it is a bolt in.

Need to be sure the block was pressure tested before the machine work. Fit is not an issue.

All 8BA family blocks are the same. The crankshaft & pistons are what make a 255 cid motor. The oil pan & oil pick up tube and all the rest of the F1 external stuff can be transferred right over.

Your neighbor will enjoy the extra torque from that 4" stroke crank. They are nice in a truck.

Merc pumps are narrow belt and although similar in appearance they are different than truck pumps. If you use the truck pumps you'll need to change the crank and generator pulleys to wide belt.
