Installing new gaskets on oil pan and was putting in the bolts, move to the other side and its not lined up. Guess I'll loosen the other side and try to beat it with a rubber mallet. Looking underneath it seems front passenger side the pan is more forward.

Try putting in a couple bolts on each side first loose...it should line itself up...no need to beat the heart of your car.

Use pan dowels, start all the bolts before tightening

I usually put the gasket sealer on the pan lip with the gasket and let it set up, or tack up to hold the gasket in place, THEN put it on the engine!

For zero set up time, use a little super glue to hold the gasket in place around the sump.

![]() Adhere the gasket to the BLOCK, with the little tabs extending into the groove, for the cork strip. Start feeding the cork in @ each end & in the middle. Put a dab of good sealer at the intersections of the corks & the pan gaskets. To get the corks in requires extreme patience & finesse. This is where YEARS of experience & practice PAYS OFF ![]() ![]() BUT, I must remember, one of you might be a BRAIN SURGEON, who could "REPAIR" mine, when I BROKE IT---LOL Bill W.

Make sure your splash pan in your oil pan is fully seated. That might push things out of shape. Get some help with that pan. Not an easy job. Merry Christmas.

I have always used a smear of grease on gaskets to help hold them in place while adjusting the pan and starting the fasteners. It's not rocket science but it works for me!
