Default Beware of Virus or Spam from Fordbarn Names

I just got this email, and it says it's from Gary Carr, but just by reading the first few words I knew Gary didn't send it, so I marked it as JUNK and deleted it. No telling what might have happened if I opened it.

I just read on another sire when a guy clicked on an email, and now he can't turn on his computer. Someone suggested removing the cord and battery and wait 5 minutes, then reinstall them and try it again. That worked for me once when I had a problem.

Here's what I just got and deleted:

This is absolutely amazing! I am totally impressed! You can't miss it!

Just got a credit card hacked this week. Funny thing was I have not used it in a very long time and it was not even being carried in my wallet .it was in a drawer put away and who ever used it in Canada and Pa on the same day . They even had the security code from the back. I would not have known but the credit card company emailed me and we got a stop on the charges. Thank god for that it could have been a real nightmare. Happy Holidays to all

Think about who would have had access to that drawer... maybe the cleaning people

I also got a email for Garrison Karr that was not from him. I have received a number of emails from people I know that only has a single sentence in the body. The sentence has a link that probably will screw your computer up. I never click on the link and so far no problems I can tell of.

I had to replace mine too recently and they said your account hasnt been used but theres a high possibility somewhere you bought something had a data breach and someone likely got your card info so they "closed" the account (aka closed for my part but leaving it open as bait) and sent me a new card/number... Tis the holiday season!

Recently opened a Digger Dog website & all HELL popped up! SOUNDS/WARNINGS/CONTINUOUS WARNINGS & insisting I call a phone number to get it "FIXED"!!!
Computer refused to shut down manually. After trying CONTROL/ALT/ DELETE 3 TIMES, a window opened with a SIGN OFF option. After 5 SHAKEY Minutes, turned it on & it was ALL GONE!
Changed my underwear & checked the Weather Report.

Hey Bill
I believe the next step in what you have caught will be the inability to simply click on a link and have it take you to the spot linked. It will want to open a new Tab and unless you close it immediately, will hold you hostage there.

I suggest https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

Worked for me.

Sorry, forgot to mention, when you run Malwarebytes for the first time, do it in Safe Mode with a internet access and it will do the best job possible hunting down those nasty bytes.

x2 for DaWizard suggestion! "malwarebytes" is great for eliminating viruses, etc.

Malwarebytes is a good tool and is free for a while. It has helped me in several cases where we get unwanted malware and viruses on your computer. The last major problem was Ransom Ware and it encrypted many files on the wife's computer before getting it stopped. We lost a lot of data and the program was also encrypting the backup drive data. If you see a warning about it, go back at least a month and to do a restore of the system and run as many virus protection programs and Malwarebytes to see if you can catch it before it causes you problems. We had to completely erase Windows 10 and do a complete reload. Took about a months work to get it back. We figure the program came in on a downloaded machine embroidery design that was purchased from a reputable site.

Anytime I see a questionable email, I right-click on it while it is still listed in the "IN BOX" then another small window with a list comes up. At the bottom of the list is "View Message Source" and I click on that. This will show all the command entries that are normally hidden in the email. Scroll down until you come to the actual text message then you will know if it is legitimate. If you never find meaningful text there is a pretty good chance that it is junk. Then delete it without actually opening the email.

When you fill the "To:" field when using email with more than just on recipient you make it easy for an infected computer to spread itself. The safest way is to send it to one recipient and "CC:" or "BCC" the rest. The email virus reads the header information and copies any address that is listed in the "To:" field. With the billion user breach from Yahoo this is going to be a bigger problem than normal for a while.

The billion user hack occurred in 2013. They just admitted it recently.
