Default Starter plates

Hey guys, I ran in to this before,
I have 2 different starter plates, one is flat and the other sits the starter at a angle,
The plate that sits the starter at a angle has the raised ridge side to side along the top of the plate.
What fits what please ..
Thanks ..

What kind of bell housing do you have (there are several varieties)? I believe the "angled" plate is used with a standard '49 to '51 car bell housing, while the other fits a Merc or truck bell housing. There is a complete write-up (with pictures) on the '32-'53 "Techno-Site". If you can't find it, get back and I'll find the link.

Bell housings without starter plates are almost useless. I have a bunch of both componenets. If your friend needs something, get back to me.

As tubman stated, the angled starter plate fits the '49-'51 Ford car stamped steel full bell housing, and only this bell. The starter plate angle matches the angle on the lower portion of the bell, keeping the starter parallel with the crank shaft.
