Default '36 Grille Question

I've search the archives, but couldn't find the info I needed. I also looked in the "1935-36 Ford Book" and found the following information concerning the grille:

"For '36 there were three different types of grilles. One was a single piece stamping. The other two had an outer shell with individual bars welded at the top and bottom. The difference between these two was how the metal was formed on the vertical grille bars. This difference is subtle when viewing both grilles from the backside. The individual grill bars were fully formed (symmetrical) on one version and narrowed on the inside of the other."

My question is, I was under the impression that on all original '36 grilles, the center vertical bar and both adjoining bars, including the crank hole surround, were all one piece, but no reproduction grilles were ever made like that - is that a true statement ?

Thanks,
-Bob

Tag Man, your impression is correct. There is another variation among genuine Ford '36 grills: Most have three slots at the bottom for the three stainless trim pieces to slide into. Some grills have three holes for the bottom clips and the stainless trim pieces are cut off square and not flattened.
