Default 6v alt

I just bought a 6v pos grnd alternator for my 28 ford. When I hooked it up and traced the wire from the old gen it goes to the neg battery terminal and my car is pos grnd and so is the alt. This does't seem right, any input out there. Does't the alt charge thru the pos terminal like a battery charger?THANKS any suggestions to [email protected]

Charge through the positive terminal...Huh!!? Doesn't matter whether it is positive or negative gnd, it is a complete circuit that makes current flow. Anyway, if your car is positive ground, then the charge wire WILL go to the negative side of the battery.

That seems right. The ground that goes to the frame is from the positive terminal of the battery. Positive Ground.

The charger gets connected pos to the positive terminal and neg to the neg terminal.

The regulator is changed to a 6 volt and connections are reversed inside the alternator. The pos ground alternators will show a 7.2 negative charge at the connection. Alternators that are not designed for pos ground and not changed internally will show a 14.7 positive charge at the post.
