Default chassis engeering front sway bar

Anyone install one of these on a 39 deluxe? I just bought one and it appears my lower radiator hoses are in the way. Directions say remove one rivet and add a hole in chassis for brackets but the sway bar will not clear hoses. Even with shims they provided

I'm stumped.....Andy

ON my 40 Std. I made extra thick shims(spacers). I think I used 3/4" thickness.

Thanks the 39 looks like I'd need 3.5" spacer. I'll call them in am.

Could you post a photo? Hard to visualize how your radiator hoses could be that low.

JS

Not sure pic tells story. But appreciate you trying to help.

If you can see where the bolt comes (no nut) through, that is one side of where clamp is suppose to go.

I looked under my car and the spacers are 3" aluminum blocks. I also put a tire patch of rubber on the bottom of the hoses to absorb any contact that might occur as the engine and frame swim around.

I have the Chassis Engineering sway bar on my '39 coupe. I also use a 3" spacer.

You will need spacers. If you look at a stock '40 sway bar the center of the bar in the stock brackets is approximately 3" from the bottom of the frame. Since the CE bar uses different mounts it has to be spaced downward.

Thanks guys I called Chassis eng. and as you stated he also said I would need 3" spacer.

I returned the sway bar back to them.

Just curious, why are you returning it, just not wanting to fab the spacers?

Personal preference - I don't like the idea of a 3" shim

Before I did that I'd use a 40 sway bar and change out the perch.
