Default 1939 1/2 Ton Trivia a.k.a. "More Stuff We Can't Figure Out"

With the vast amounts of information out there, we are once again hitting road blocks trying to figure out some details on this old truck. As always, any help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

1. Under-dash vacuum lines - there are two of these (one on each side) under the dash. What are they for? Images: http://imgur.com/a/HDgvQ

2. Hood latch/prop - the truck has a latch (lift to hold, lift again to close) to keep the hood propped. The "ear/tab" that the latch connects to on the hood seems to be an original part of the hood. I cannot find any pictures of these to determine if it is factory-correct or not? Any ideas?

3. Can the dash be removed? I have not been part of this process but it sounds like my dad removed a few bolts/screws and there are also a few stitch welds securing it to the rest of the cab. Is the dash even removable?

4. The windshield - does anyone know of any good resources or threads that detail how to remove the windshield and back glass?

Thanks ahead for any help you can offer. The information buried in threads or garnered through posts like this have been an incredible help.
