Default Starter Switch Burnouts

Three starter switches were brought to the clinic meeting tonight. Two had burn marks where the switch had shorted, and the third one shorted when the insulating t part failed. This is the small t part between the round push rod and copper strap. This one also has solder from the cable terminal when the end melted off. Make sure the insulating board inside the switch is in good shape and large enough to cover the sides from the copper strap.

This one actually looks like it failed from the outside of the switch, which means the cable end wasn't insulated right, or it shorted to the case for some reason.
