Who has good prices on a Stromberg Carb for a downdraft intake?

When I went searching for my NEW Stromberg 97, of the six or so sources I priced, Uncle Max (in Utah) was the best price. That was about a year or so ago.

To begin with, do you know which Stromberg model carb that you want and/or need for you application 97,48,81, and 94 with Stromberg bolt base, etc are all different in what they flow...

Charlie Price sells STROMBERG products, including some complete and new carbs. I think that, if you have a core to turn in, then he has a 'base' 97 Stromberg for something like $190 ? He charges $100 if you do not have a core.
Why not buy a good/complete core and rebuild your own Stromberg. If you have no skill/knowledge of carb function, etc, buying new and/or rebuilt is good backup plan to have available

The 97, looks like Speedway has the best price for a double, others are about over $400 each.

There is a difference between the Speedway 97's and the English 97's. I have the English ones and can't fault them.

If you can get them for $400 buy them.

There's a link to it here

This goes back to 2009 - don't know if things have been improved in the meantime....

I got mine from Summit. The Stromberg (UK) site lists them as one of their dealers. I haven't fired mine up yet, couple more weeks. Hope I didn't bite off on a knock-off.

If it says Stromberg on one side and has the big '97' logo on the other you're good

It does indeed. Thanks.

I was pretty sure that my engine builder would have said something if it wasn't the "good" part.

I have read of some mis-givings about the 'Speed Way' Strombergs - which are not actually 'Strombergs', as most understand the term to mean.

I was informed recently that all Stromberg and Speedways are made, or assembled in China. One builder told me he had problems with 4 new Strombergs, he said to just buy rebuilt older Strombergs.

Genuine Strombergs are definitely assembled in the UK. I've been to their shop, which is only about 25 miles from me, and watched them do it.

Which carbs did your builder friend have problems with, the Speedway ones or the genuine ones? What problems?

He said the new 97s, I was thinking maybe he got them confused with the Speedways.
