Default 8BA oiling

Hey guys, the 2 oil ports on the back of the block, one pointing up, the other pointing out to the drivers side, the top one is for the oil pressure and the one to the side is feed to the oil canister, is this correct ?
Are both ports coming from the same feed ?
My pal is running some sort of full flow system and doesn't need to feed the oil canister, so can he run the oil pressure off of either port on the back of the block ?
Thanks ...

Yes, they are both in the same oil passage.

Just to let your pal know, you can't just "plug in a full-flow system" without modifications to the block and oilpump -- there is no "out" and "in" ports . . . both those ports go to the same place. And you can't just dump it back to the pan - first of all because that isn't "full flow", secondly - because you'd loose a ton of oil pressure. Just wanting you to know the oiling system. Have your buddy lookup '95%' oiling system for a flathead - these setups are almost full-flow, just not the rear main.

The typical way to achieve 100% full-flow is to modify the oil-pump so NONE of it goes through it's normal path into the block, but exits to a special/new line out the side of the pan (oil pump mods required). Then, you take this line through your full-flow setup and into one of those two ports you mentioned. This gives 100% full-flow.

If you need any more info, you can ping me.

That sounds like the Motor City Flathead system. The line goes to the oil filter and then back up to one of ports you mentioned. Either one will work.
