Default Nichrome wire, not model a

There is so much talent on this site that i just have to ask. Many old cars had gas gauges that were electric an incooperated a wire wound resister in the tank with a wiper arm that rose and fell with the float.. I have this on my 31 willys knight but the resister is physically destroyed and i need to try to wind a new one. Does anyone know where to find this type of wire which i believe is nicrome. Jack
