Hey guys I'm planning on installing Speedways lowering springs this spring onto my 1950 ford f1. From what I've read it is smart to install new spring shackles at the same time. Is there any other modifications that I need to be aware of before I get started or is it pretty much a bolt on thing and away I go? Thanks in advance for the input. Luke

Just be aware that new lowering springs probably won't be as low as your old wore out springs.

According to speedway they should lower about 3 inches, but I understand what your saying. Right now the front tires are pretty tall and knobby so someone installed a coil type spring that holds the front end up in the air. So I want that mess removed and figured I might as well go with a drop spring to get the stance better. New rims and tires are next after the springs get installed.

Yes that is exactly it. So I should need to buy any drop spindles or special tie rod ends or anything for these lowering springs to work? Correct?

I believe you only need the dropped tie rod ends if you are using the dropped axle. You should not need them if you are just using the lowering springs. Your original spindles should be fine but that would be a great time to check the king pins and replace them if they need it.

Will your tires fit after the lowering spring is installed? If not, you can go with F3 fenders with the larger wheel openings. I always thought those looked better on F1's anyway.

Depending on how much you actually lower the vehicle, shock absorber travel could become an issue. Check it out after the new springs are installed. Good luck.

A lowered spring or dropped axle doesnt change the end of travel for the front axle so shouldnt be an issue.

I do not know if they would clear or not. Still snow on the ground here and I have never messed with these springs before.
