Default Tube opening on Intake Manifold

I'm starting to put things back together on my 46-48 Flathead and have a question. When I took my Intake Manifold off my truck, I noticed that the tube line from left rear of manifold and went to Distributor housing. Now I read that it should go to front left opening of the Intake Manifold. Does it make a difference? The other opening in Intake Manifold goes to the vacuum wiper. It seems right that front left hole in Intake Manifold would go to distributor housing and the rear hole would go to vacuum wiper.
What is best setup? Thanks

it doesn't matter as far as performance since both ports are vacuum. Why cross the vacuum source with longer lines. You are correct the distributor is usually in the front port and wipers in the rear. Check both with a vacuum gauge to make sure both are open and not plugged with dirt or carbon.
