I had a "B" block rebuilt with inserts at Antique Engine Rebuilding in Skokie, IL.. It gets noisey when the engine has been running for awhile. I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience.

My "A" engine by Antique Engine runs noticeably quiet early and following a long ride. I use Mobil One 5W30 and change it every 500 miles or maybe three or four times a year. I do not burn any though I do sixty any time I am on a highway or open road. I have the Touring Package, HC head, touring cam, SS valves, etc.

My a engine used to get noisy when idled down when hot, turned out there was .009 clearance on the cam bearings.

I had one of those engines in my coupe, and it was the best running engine I ever had, and the most powerful.

I can't think of a Con for insert bearings. Pro all the way.

My inserts were done by Schwalms in PA, engine is so quiet you would think it was a Hybrid motor.

what is the costs of inserts? if your engine makes noise try upping viscosity. or some lucas can quiet a noisy engine. i have run an old chev small block on 50 weight and it seems to love it 5 years on.

5-20 oil is to thin for the engine, that thin of oil is used in modern engines to increase gas mileage use 20-50 in all of my older engines

The title is a bit misleading based on what you placed in the message.
