Default pilot block water leak exhaust stud

Gave the block a good flushing out and noticed water coming out of number one cylinder lower exhaust bolt hole .

Is this a serious concern or does this threaded hole go all the way into the water cavity, or is it rusted away inside or other , or just seal the manifold bolt and forget it ?

I'd use a stud in your case, seal it in and forgot about it.
The hole is ment to be blind, but sometimes the hole is a little deep from drilling and re taping or such. Seen it a few times, not that uncommon.

.

I thought all holes were blind in a Flathead?

SBC and BBC use thru holes bore directly into the water jackets which is just an

Not all holes are blind in stock flathead, how many head studs/bolts go into water? Two bolts are actually submerged in water all the time. But the exhaust manifold threads should be blind, but are sometimes drilled to deep at some point in the past.
