My oil drain plug is 1 1/2 inches in diameter on the threads. Evidently the plug has been discontinued from reproduction.
However, I cannot seem to locate the gasket as well. Can anyone help? . Engine is a 52 V8 but must have an oil pan from a different year flathead. Thanks. |

My 1940 with a stock 85hp has the same gasket. Mac's sells them as part #52-6734 for $1.95 each.

You may have a '48-'53 truck oil pan, which most if not all have a 1 1/2" drain plug.

Don't order from Macs. I ordered 8 from them in Feb and they are still on back order.

Easier just to buy some gasket material and make your own.

Maybe a good hardware store will have a selection of O'rings. A 1 1/2" rubber O'ring will work just fine. Good for surfaces that don't mate evenly.

I broke mine just the other day. I cut one out of thick non-corrugated cardboard.
Should last for one interval anyway. Wouldn't an O ring suffer due to the oil? I thought they didn't like petroleum. (Says the guy who used cardboard ![]()

if you slightly over tighten the plug with a O ring it will force it out. made mine out of a plastic milk jug, been on there over 20 years
