Default Revealing vin number

I was wondering if it is a good idea to cut a window in the flange of the body to reveal the vin number. When we get an inspection sticker the inspector always looks for it. What do you guys do?

Find another inspection station. Your engine number is your vin. If it doesn't match your paperwork change the paperwork at the registry

Once the VIN is verified in our state (DE), a small inspection sticker is placed on the door frame for future verification. It is of a material that will destruct if removed, much like an inspection year on a license tag. If the vehicle is going to be judged, they are pretty liberal about the location. We had to have the VIN verified first by " exposing the frame method".

Do antique registered vehicles still get inspection in your state??
Stamp your motor number to match your registration problem solved

Here in Pennsylvania, cars titled and registered with antique type plates have NO state motor vehicle inspection. Also too, the paperwork is permanent and does not need to be renewed. That's it! Just pay the under hundred buck insurance bill ever year and happy motoring. The antique car registration situation is about the only positive thing that I can say about the PA governmental boondoggle.

In New York State, it is illegal to stamp a VIN number anywhere subject to confiscation of the vehicle. If an engine is changed and given a new VIN to match the number on the frame, the DMV in New York must have eyeballs on the frame number. Rubbings and photos are no longer usable proof.

There is a high probability that a new Model A will be registered as a 2016 Custom if the motor number changes.

In most states it's illegal, but in reality how would they know if the car was already registered in the state and the engine was restamped?

In Mass. it would be easer to change the engine than change the paper work!
