Where do I find the part number on a Trico wiper motor?
I can find all the patent numbers but can't seem to find any part number. This is going on a '31 SW town sedan

Originally most replacement and likely some of the original Trico wipers had a lightly painted part number on them. This paint must have been low quality as some of the wiper motors I have the number is gone. Wish they were marked better as I have about 10 of them I can not properly ID. Rod

No part numbers just a certain look and length of the shaft as described in the JS.
The one you have pictured would be a later replacement if the shaft length was correct. The vacuum port is on the correct side (I am pretty sure) but the back cover is the later snap on type. The factory unit would have had a different top and screws holding on the back cover. A proper evaluation would require feeling how easy the wiper turned. It should be smooth and easy. The pot metal should be smooth, flaking and pitting may indicate the metal going bad and if that is inside then it would be a bad choice if you want a working wiper. The inside metal must be perfectly smooth. |

The pre war original wiper motor has a RCX1 round circle w trademarks and a 2 screw front cover.. These motors are trouble to rebuild and get working good due to the pot metal and warpage.
The post war wiper motor has a KCX1 with no circle and a snap on front cover ( no screws). These are better for rebuilding and will fit on the model A exactly the same, appearance and all... If you want more info call fickens wiper service...http://www.wiperman.com |

The KCX1 is for the closed car with visor for coupe, Tudor and visored 4-doors . The slant window is a different wiper with long shaft and threaded shaft It's on my wish list for my s/w town sedan as well as there is currently and older replacement one in there now . Larry Shepard |

Ok, thanks all, I think I got it now.
The wiper I have is rebuildable, and should work just fine...thank God I saved all those pics for routing the vacuum lines. I'm kinda in a holding pattern until after Christmas, but my Grandson is going to help me take the front passenger door off when they come up for Christmas. No better time to start his Model A memories then Christmas.
