Default Turn Signals

I have a question for those who have installed turn signals on their "A". I am helping a guy put turn signals on his truck & I noticed that without the load resistor at the LED tail lights, the emergency flashers would work. The turn signals will not work without the resistors. I also see that there is no brake light when the turn signal is flashing, is this right? I'm thinking it is. I didn't write the name of the signal unit down so I can't tell you that. He has the original style wire harness with extra wires run for the turn signals. The rear tail lights are LED & the front lights have a standard bayonet bulb. Thanks.

I installed LED rear lites and use a signalstat 900. The front park lights and cowl lights are used for turns. In order to use a 535 thermal flasher higher wattage/CP bulbs need to used in either the park or cowl lights.
Some LEDs require the wire between the lights/bulbs to be clipped.

I have the SignalStat 900, with LED rears & bayonet cowl lights with twin filaments in the front.
1) No resistor needed using the standard thermal flasher
2) Brake light doesn't function in the direction you are turning (because it's flashing), but the other side does.

On our cars want the brake light to be disabled when you have the turn signal on if both of the lights are next to each other (or maybe they are even the same bulb on our cars). On modern cars that are lit up like Christmas trees you can leave the brake lights working while the turn signals are on.

Just use a solid state flasher.

They are, many different ones. I've used them on 12v systems but can't find one that actually works for 6v. I tried a few.

Check vendors for motorcycles/scooters and Vintage VW's.

I know about those and read those posts when they were first posted.
The EF32 is 2 prong which I have not tried because all the units I have used are 3 prong and didn't want to do any rewiring. The EF33 is supposed to be the 3 prong version of the 32, but, it doesn't work. I can't remember the numbers of the others I've tried without going and looking.

If someone has found a 3 prong that actually works, I'd sure appreciate getting the number.

I went looking for a flasher today. I thought maybe I found one. It was adjustable and either 2 or both 3 prong style. [ I could do without the indictor light if necessary]. But, it would not work below 8 volt.

So, I'll be sticking with the higher wattage/ candle power front bulbs and a thermal flasher. Why mess with what works.

I have a reproduction Signal Stat 900 with LED's rear and an LED "Third Brake Light." I am utilizing the high capacity cowl lamp turn signal bulbs forward, and a "heavy Duty" flasher with buzzer. The whole thing works well. My 2012 Mustang's brake light ALSO does not light on the side with the operating turn signal, as do most all other modern car brake lamps.

I use ALL RED taillite LED's since I figure with the red -third brakelight for turn signals and brakes, introducing amber to other drivers would increase confusion.
