Default A Flathead Ted kind of question

To any of you that have installed the front kit from Ted, I have a real "stupid" sort of question.....
When installing the parts, the bottom roller pin is turned around so the large pin head is on the outside and the small end with the cotter pin is on the inside. If the head of the roller pin no longer touches the top edge of the
original roller pin tracks, are the tracks even necessary on the backing plates?

With the top spring removed, and the kit properly installed - what function would the tracks be performing with Teds' kit? What am I missing here?

As always, Thanks!

I thought that's where the 4 sided adjustment pin came into play?

On the fronts the roller track is not used. The larger rollers fit into the half moon shaped plate that comes with the kit.

The track will provide maintain the vertical alignment of the operating pin and wedge. Without, the wedge assy can move inboard, although a small distance. Also, the wedge stud needs a certain amount of material thickness to mount properly (backing plate + wedge). Obviously, I am referring to the front brakes. The four sided adjustment pin is used only on the rear brakes. Keep the track in place.
