Default What's this?

This was hanging by one bolt, rh side frame rail, just forward of the aft X member. It was near the muffler but not attached. Anyone recognize it? Thanks. Forgot to add, working on 39pu.

It is a tailpipe hanger for the exhaust. Its goes from the outside frame rail to the x member just behind the muffler on the right hand side of the frame. The piece in the middle of the bracket is broken. There is a stud and a rubber insert that is missing.

Thank you. I've never seen that design before, wasn't sure it was even part of truck, suspected it was a "mystery modification" from way-back-when. Previous owners welded tow hitch to the rear bed rail, added a 4x4x10" piece of angle iron to the firewall, etc etc. Probably made sense at the time... Anyway thanks again, I was preparing to re-invent the wheel, now I'll just buy one!

SofaKing...I was looking for one a couple of years ago for my 39 panel and could not find one reproduction. I found a source on Fordbarn who said he had 5 NOS ones. I bought them and when they arrived they were for the next generation frame and would not work...too short from what I remember. I ended up making one. Then I found a correct NOS one and bought it, again from a Ford Barner, but I already had the one I made installed. The one in your picture looks savable and if not, you have the pattern. It only took a few minutes to make one using just a vise and a drill press.

Is this the other part of what you are missing? Found this on ePay.
