Default Suspension Question

My 56 wagon has airbags on it and I have become a non fan of them. After cruising the coast I think I'd like to go to a leaf spring or coil. Just looking for advice or ideas. Anyone ever done anything like this?

Or have any good pics of the original suspension I could build off of.

I don't know a lot about rear suspensions, but I did pick up a little knowledge doing the Morrison triangulated 4 bar/coil over on my 55 'bird. I really like the way it worked out. Can I ask what it is you don't like about the 'bags?

The ride is ok until I load it down to travel. And it takes a while to air back up if I drop it down. And if it's loaded it doesn't air up as high as it needs.

It sounds to me like you have a pump problem, not an air bag problem. You need more volume in storage, or a bigger air compressor, or both.

I expected a bad ride or sway as you're complaint. But if it's good, then the geometry must be ok. I'd go with Don on this, either compressor, tank, or the wrong size bags. I've got a couple friends with bags in larger cars or wagons, and the ability to air up for load is their favorite part.
