Customer has 312 Y block installing it in a 1927 T. Using a three carb manifold and needed a distributor. Had already purchased a new unit from some where ( billett) that wont work based on overall height of distributor.
We have the orginal dual vac bowl from Y engine that also cant be used based on incorrect vacuum signal with loadamatic va and springs etc...... Took later unit with mechanical advance and vacuum advance and removed the vacuum unit and belt sanded the boss off the distributor to allow even more room in engine. This unit has a ball bearing breaker plate ( the best ever) and contact points (kiss). Note weights are prestolite style(like a early mopar) with a rusty inner shaft etc. Tear down clean and polish all parts , lube and reassemble. Brazed breaker plate into position. Looks good and fits into engine! Car builder is going to cut the firewall bunp just a bit to allow movement. These old Ford distributors have the correct amount of advance and will run forever with a good quality set of contacts!!!! ![]() ![]() |
