Default '40 "ford deluxe" on the hood

how do you install those little flat spring loaded retainers on the back of the "ford deluxe" emblems on both side of the hood?

thanks,

The originals are called Flat Type -Speed Nuts and are made of spring steel. You push them onto the little stud that protrudes from the emblem. Sizes vary depending on dia. of stud. They look like #2099 and others shown here.

Like in response #2, I push them on with my finger enough to stay on and then push them home with a nut driver that is small enough to push in close to the stud. Obviously, holding the outside with your other hand.
