Default Was Dick Spadaro's inventory scattered?

I wanted to send a newbie to Dick for parts and just still can't believe he's gone....

Did someone buy the bulk of his inventory of used stuff? Or was it scattered to the masses. Guess I am still trying to buy from Dick in a way.

I know that some insiders had early pickings and what was left got sold at a type of garage sale at the end of April. So I guess you would say it got scattered.

There were at least three vendors (friends/business associates of Dicks), at the recent Rhinebeck, NY car show/swap meet, who were selling off some of Dicks old inventory. Two of these vendors were operating on his old spaces. I saw a few very nice deals made on some of these items.

The bulk of Dick's parts/collection/stock was sold over a period of several months preceding his passing. The sales were handled by Bill (long time employee) and his cousin Frank Spadaro). Prices were reasonable, nothing was ''given away". The balance of the inventory was sold at the "garage sale" JM 35 Sedan referred to. It is my understanding the trucks, shop tools and buildings have been sold as well. It was very sad to be in that shop without Dick. I stopped to see him and sat on the tailgate of his truck at the Norwich swap meet on Memorial Day week end (2014) just talking 32 Fords with him. He seemed fine....in July I found out he was taken ill. This year I passed his spot at Norwich.....so hard to believe he is gone.

Yes, I thought the same thing. Saw him enjoying the displays at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing during one of our driving tours and he looked fine. Life is fragile, we never know from one day to the next. The hobby lost a good man and a great asset.

I don't want to be misunderstood. I visited dick in altamont several times and at the saratoga meet. He had an original 32 Tudor similar condition to mine. Which he sold. He kept me from several stupid newbee moves. He also raced at Lebanon valley where I went to high school.. I was tryong th help out another Lebanon valey guy find a part that Dick would typically have had in his shop.

32 Phil , thanks for posting a nice and correct reply to this question.

It was a long and tedious ordeal , meeting many, many, nice people along the way to the sad end.
Dicks assets after all was done passed to his 96 year old Mom.
