Working on my 33 model B. I tried to fit the grille to the radiator and realized a set of new reproduction brackets don't fit at all. I'll try to explain and hope some of you can provide insight. The first 2 photos show the middle bracket (the one that goes in the middle section of the side of radiator and bolts to the grille) of both my original and the reproduction one (good quality material). The original haprojects forward thanks in part to a much longer middle tab to secure the grille compared to the new one. The reproduction one, being too short, does'nt reach the grille which is already pushed all the way back to the radiator so there is no room left to push any further to fit it. The design is also different and may be is the reason the bracket does not reach the grille. The 3rd photo shows the smaller bracket. I understand it should bolt to the side of the radiator either at the bottom or the top of the panel, not sure. The holes available in my radiator are spread out 1 3/4 inches center-to-center whereas the holes in the bracket are much closer to each other, only 3/4 of an inch center-to-center, and again it is too short to reach the grille. Either this is the wrong bracket or my radiator is not correct?
The last 3 photos are of my radiator. It came with the car, was re-cored but top/bottom/sides are the same. Please help me understand the following issues: Is this radiator correct for model B? Are these brackets the same for V8 and 4 cylinder car? How many brackets do I need on each side? Why these reproductions don't fit at all? I have a home-made replacement for the missing middle bracket but will require some changes that I would prefer to avoid if possible. Thank you guys! Look forward to your input. Manuel |

Manuel,
The four and V-8 radiators are different (the V-8 has a thicker core) and therefore the brackets to attach the grille to the radiator are also different. No doubt the reproductions are the V-8 version. There were two brackets per side as shown in the photo below. If you'd like, I can e-mail that photo to you for you to zoom in on. |
