Default open drive trans question

i have a 46 merc w/39 top loader closed drive,i have a 50 ford pu open drive trans that I plan on using,the open trans is a little longer and was wondering if any floor mods would be needed to install .

The two transmission CASES are virtually identical, especially in length. The two rear mounts ('39 closed and '50 open drive) bolt-on to the case, and constitute the difference. Swap the open drive mount and mainshaft with the '39 mainshaft and it's rear mount and the transmissions will swap places with each other. DD

You may have to modify the floor to allow for the speedometer connection which faces up toward the floor on an open drive trans. A friend of mine had this problem when installing an open drive trans in a 40 coupe.

thanks im also concerned about the tail end of trans clearing the floor as the motor is in place,i recently installed a 39 closed trans and it was tight even with the ujoint removed its a 46 merc but its same as ford 42-48
