Default Distributor dome style 32-40?

My question is when you attach the outer cap to the inter distributor cap(the one the spark plug wires attach to) is the only thing that holds it to the distributor body are the bails. Mine didn't fit . Has a gap and has in and out play . Yes I made sure that the alineing pins aligned up. It looks to me that I am missing a keeper of some kind. The outer cover goes through the inter cap . The shaft on the outer cap has a recess where a Keeper goes ? The movement just seam right to me . Help . Thanks Miff

There is a rubber o-ring that functions as the keeper. And don't forget the gaskets.

I think all of the antique parts suppliers carry them. if you don't want to order through a catalog, maybe tell us your location and someone near you can point you in the right direction.

I made my gaskets and got the o-rings from the local auto parts store.

Use a size D204 'O' ring to hold dome cover and terminal plate together.
