Here's a few pictures of a rear end I picked up a week ago. I got the complete rear end except the bolts for the axle tubes. Everything looks good except one keyway. I should probably sell it instead of storing it for spare parts.

Not wishing to hijack the threasd, but is there a correct direction for the 9 bolts that hold the carrier together. Bolt head or nuts on the crown wheel side. I have seen them fitted both ways.

The early carriers with the half-dome bolt heads faced in one direction, the later carriers with rectangular shaped bolt heads faced in the opposite direction.

The early carriers had the nuts on the flat surface of the ring gear, the later carriers had the head of the bolt on flat surface of the ring gear.

The early carriers had flat mating surfaces on the two carrier halves. The later carriers had notched mating surfaces.

The early and late carrier assemblies do not have interchangeable parts, except for the nine hex nuts.

There are photos and a description of the early and late carriers in the link posted above.
