Default J C Taylor

This co seems to be very competitive on antique insurance, has anyone used them with satisfactory results. Thanks, Rick

I have used them over 30 years. Only claims were after hurricane Charlie, sent appraiser out in a few days. 4 cars with minor damage, got a check in a few weeks. Very competitive in price. G.M.

I've been with JCT since the 70's... about 40 years. I suppose you realize, the ins they sell is NOT J C Taylor, but Formost Insurance Company. There have been different Co's sold by JCT over the years.
I've never had a claim, so I know nothing about how a claim might turn out.
They used to have the rule about 2500 miles per year, and 'car' events only (or some such thing). I don't know if that is still true.

Out here in California after the earthquake they responded very quickly to their customers who had damage. They use independent adjusters who have a good knowledge of old cars. I have friends who have JCT and were happy with the service,. I have Grundy who also responded quickly and I am very happy with their service. You never know how good your insurance company is until you file a claim.

My only experience with JCT was in '94 when I tried to get them to insure my newly acquired '41 ford, stock, original paint, interior and engine. I was told by them to contact them when I got it restored! needless to say I don't have them!

I have JCT, too. As someone mentioned above, the coverage is through Foremost. When I went to MVA to get tags, they wanted to know the insurance co and I said JCT. They had no clue who that was until I figured out what I probably should have known all along, that it was through Foremost. I won't make that mistake again.

My only complaint is the $10 per car charge for police protection. It is more likly something to do with New york state, but when the cars are in storage for six months, (with 4 feet of snow in the driveway) I don't need the extra charges. Anyone else getting this charge? Thanks Chuck S.

"Police Protection"?? What are the Police ACTUALLY going to do different for your car, post a Sentry outside your garage? Sounds like an excuse to get extra money from you.

I just switched from J C Taylor via Farmers to Haggerty via AAA. Much cheaper about half in my case, and much more lenient about pleasure driving. Now when I take the truck for a spin I don't feel like I'm cheating or worse yet not covered in case of an accident.

Haggarty seems more expensive , as far as the $10.00 per car charge for police, that is NY S law just another screwing from the empire state. Thanks guys for the info.

I have my 37 streetrod insured with Safeco, the same company that insures my home and modern vehicles. They would not just do liability which is all I wanted, but they offered very inexpensive coverage for comprehensive and collision, so I opted for full covergae. They sent someone over to look at the vehicle and take pictures. I have four vehicles and the house for less than $2500/year. The insurance agent said they like to insure classics and streetrods...said locally they have not had a claim in over 20 years. I do live in a small town, not a big city and all of the vehicles are garaged except for my 3/4 ton truckwhich is under a carport most of the time.

I had all my antique cars insured with JCT for over 25 years and never a claim.. When I finished converting my 66 mustang (which had been insured with them for 10 years) from a coupe to a conv, completely to factory specs they told me it was a street rod and my insurance at the time would go from $65 for that car to $265 for that car per year I swapped all of my cars to State Farm. That was 18 years ago.
