Default UFO (Unidentified Flathead Object)

Gents

I have a seal plate but my 8BA gasket set did not come with the two seals that this UFO is suppose to have. Both ends of my oil pan has rope seals. I cant find any images showing the correct positions of this plate. What does it bolt onto and is it necessary or did someone add it as a afterthought. I had a seal made for the crank area based on the old sample. Does anyone have images?

If I remember correctly it uses the two center oil pan bolts but I might be wrong. Here is the part in a picture.

I have that piece on my 8BA/8RT in my F-1. It has 2 long bolts and it goes down on top of the pan in the back. The other series of bolt holes allow it to bolt to the split bell housing. I think it acts as a secondary seal to keep the dirt out.

Yep, it's called a "dust shield" for 8RT engines, has to be used with a truck pan and truck starter plate. Van Pelt sells the rubber seals for it, 8RT-6410 or something close to that.
