I have a 12v generator that the seller said was from a 1956 Ford. I need a regulator for it. The parts man says there are at least 3 types depending on the amp rating. Can any one suggest which regulator I should get ? I am using the generator on a flathead engine and my car has only the usual lights, radio, horn , wipers. Thanks for any help, Dave Miller

I had a car much like yours. It had a 48 generator housing with 56 F6 guts in it. I used a regulator for a 57 pickup to control the generator.

which means you don't need a much pricier "high output" unit -- I have some real nice
N.O.S. USA - made ones economically..... |

Or you could clean up under the hood and eliminate all the excess wiring and regulator with this: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Plain-...AVIaAvTi8P8HAQ And this:http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Plain-...AVIaAvTi8P8HAQ That way it is clean and simple with one wire hook up alternator to Positive battery terminal.
