Default Carburetor question

I have a Holley ECG6 carburetor that I would like to use as the primary carburetor on a two deuce set up on a 59A. I bought the extended throttle shaft and the base on the ECG is wider than the earlier 94 type carburetors and the shaft is not long enough to allow me to attach the throttle linkage. Can I use the base from an earlier carburetor (say an EBU or 7RT) to get my throttle shaft to work? The throttle plates on the ECG are larger than in the earlier carb bases. Will this affect the performance of the carburetor? Had planned to disable the idle circuit and block off the power valve on the secondary (EBU) carburetor and use it as a "manual dumper". Thanks for any help.

The extended throttle shaft was made for 1955 and earlier Holley/Ford AA1, 94 and 2100 3 bolt carburetors. In 1956 (ECG6) the 2110 carb had wider screw centers for the throttle plates and the extended shafts made now (aftermarket) will not work. You need to make you're own out of the current shaft or use a base from a 1955 (ECG5) or earlier. These still had the smaller throttle bores, but still a 1 1/16" venturi. The smaller bores will reduce airflow a little but not bad. Still has the largest venturi's of all these carbs.

Also, it is best (for air/fuel distribution) to run both carbs at the same time on a two carb set up since neither carb is in the center of the cylinders. Also, I am not a believer in blocked off power valves in the secondary carbs. Makes no sense. Also keep the idle system in a two carb set up when both carbs open at the same time. In a tri power set up it makes more sense to block off the idle system in front and rear carbs, but not the power valves.
