Default interesting old flathead

This summer I spent a good pile of my grand-kids inheritance on a couple truckloads of flatheads and parts I came across in an old hot rodders sheds. This flathead I was told was removed from a 34??? roadster sometime in the sixties and was replaced with either a 327 or 350 Chevy. This engine has sat in a shed since then. Turns over with a ratchet on the crank bolt. Home made oil pan is rather unique. Block is an 81. 4" stroke and bored to 3-5/16 Eddie Meyer heads, Weiand triple intake. Cam is a Winfield 59 full race. The Stromberg set is rather strange. Front carb is a 48, center is and LZ and the rear a large logo 97. As for the carb arrangement, do you think it was done on purpose for power or something similar or just because that is all the owner had back in the fifties when the engine was built????

It was a fun trip. I went twice and brought home 5 engines all built in the 50's and then later removed from hot rods and stored the last 50 or 60 years.
Also some neat intakes and various other parts. This winter I plan to rebuild this one and a couple of the others and keep them as close to current appearance as possible. They are certainly period correct.

Agreed. Not like today where some run what someone in a magazine told them was "Period correct"
I have seen many mismatched parts on Flatheads over the years and they have run just fine.
I really like the extra capacity oil pan.
