Default Tire Replacement

I'm replacing a thirty-year old set of tires on my Model A. Can I re-use the old tubes or would it be best to replace them?

I would use the old tubes. Wish I could find some good old tubes for my bikes.

Some of the older tubes are better than the new ones. If not all covered with patches I would go with the old ones.p if they have been holding air okay!

I would have to research it but I seem to remember that Bratton's, (301) 829-9880, had a production run of high quality tubes made. Of course they cost a little more but that is where I would start.

Bratton's and Bert's seem to have the best tubes.

In the motorcycle world we never re-use a tube. I guess if you get a flat with a four wheeler it's not as deadly as with a two wheeler.

And in the two cylinder world we free load off the Harley dealerships! We take the old tubes they throw out and use them on the front wheels of the tractors and the plow wheels

I got some from Mac's and have had no problems. Check the pressure every spring.

If you are going to re-use your tubes, check around the stems carefully. I just installed 5 new tires on my A and planning on re-using the tubes but three of the tubes had cracks at the valve stem. Glad Lucas Classic Tires is just down the road in Long Beach.

I would never even think of re-using a tube on a motorcycle. But they do make good rubber bands...
