Hello everyone - I'm looking for a little guidance on our 160b rear passenger door window regulator. The car is new to us so we're working out a few bugs. One item is the "post" that you fasten the interior window crank to snapped off. After removing the regulator and cleaning, the part is working much more smoothly.
I'd like to reuse the part if I can, I just don't know if I can repair the broken "post". If I can't do that, I thought the next best option would be a replacement part. As you'll see in the pics below, the "knob" at the far end of the original armature has a different profile than any replacement 3 hole regulator I have tried - basically I can't find a replacement with the same profile knob(tried one, looked at many). Has anyone ever run into this before? I may have to weld the last 3 inches of the original armature to a repro part that I removed the end from? Pics below should help explain. Thank you all so much for the help. I have already found ford barn to be an outstanding resource as we learn our new model a! Mike |

It looks like a reproduction. It is not built like the front regulators, it looks like a cheap copy. Which would explain why the handle twisted off. The usual problem with the slant type front regulators is the stamped steel piece in the handle brake comes apart. I could be wrong as my slant window cabriolet only has front doors so that is the limits of my knowledge on these. If this is a repro then I would check the other door. I would buy originals and rebuild them and put them in so they will not fail again. |
