Default gear oil

If in the 3rd member 140 gear oil is used in place of 90 would there be any adverse effects?

I can speak only of the F Series trucks specs. The owners handbook states for the single speed rear end that the owner use SAE 90 for Winter and SAE 140 for Summer. For two speed, the F-1 uses SAE 90 for all seasons. Because you're in So. Cal, I'd imagine that 140 would be fine year 'round.

There'll no doubt be a number of other thoughts other members will offer up.
