I have my share of 4' and 8' florescent lamps in my shop.
I have recently started buying a LED bulb here and there as the prices come down. Just bought a couple of 60 Watt equivalents and found they work pretty good (Osram brand). Looking for reports on LED conversion of the 4 and 8 foot tubes. It seems the technology is getting more mature and the costs are dropping. My brothers friend changed over in his house and his electric bill dropped from $150 to $88 a month (I do not know if he had incandescent bulbs before) For those that are curious, this is what I know (not much): I did a quick look and found a lot of variations. The conversion means disconnecting the ballast and connecting the 100V to one end of the sockets. There seems to be some variation on the number of LEDs and the price jumps around from $20 on up. |
