Giving it a little drink before you install it would help it self prime quicker.

Every oil pump on every engine should be primed before the first start up. This should be standard practice. I'm sure you can get away without it, but it increases initial ware and is just not a good idea.

Pack it with "white lube" then, after it's installed and the motor is ready to start, remove the plugs and spin it over until it builds OP. Anyway that's what I do...
