Are you asking about rotational play --- or side to side play that is normal
How much rotational movement do you have? |

It has good movement all around movement,no binding.

If it's loose at all (except side to side play) why not just replace it. It may be "ok" right now but think about what you will have to do replace it later on. if your budget allows it's better to fix rebuild or replace questionable parts that are labor intensive to replace later when you have already exposed the parts for other repairs.

Sounds like a Dana-spicer unit. They may even make them for Drake. You can bring it to your local NAPA and get parts there.
The supply on new Dana-Spicer is a little iffy. I found this out when I was exploring the universal joint requirements to put a Warford into my 1930 AA truck. You can buy the individual parts easier than you can buy the complete universal - although it costs more that way. Apparently DS does universal joints in "lots" - they make a lot now, let the market absorb the output while they take a vacation or make something else - and then resume production when availability (and pricing) is more to their favor. You may or may not find universal joints available at either your local store or the Model A parts houses. But last I looked, the parts houses ALL had the cups, crosses, and keepers for universal joints. Joe K
