Angry water pump impeller

I didn't realize the new water pump impeller came with a flat spot on the hub where you drill the3/16 hole to pin it to the shaft.I drilled right through the opposite impeller blade, junk now!

While I realize your frustration, it will be OK as-is with the extra hole. Just make sure the pin is 'staked in' to keep it from working out.

Oh Never Mind !!! Thats how we learn by making mistakes sometimes.

Brattons sells the Stainless shaft with the impeller pinned to the shaft might be a better option . I usually buy the long shaft and grind the end to fit the wear in the head or use the little collar to take up play .

As Brent said, your impeller should still be fine as long as the pin is staked.

I was pressing a new impeller onto a good used shaft and the impeller shattered with great force. I was lucky a piece of it didn't hit me in the face. I think it's best to just buy a new shaft with the new impeller already pinned to the shaft.

I agree,it's only a couple of more dollars for the shaft with the impeller pined to it,if I need another one I will order that way!
