Default More 68C top questions

I know, I'm asking incredibly obscure questions but hey! youse guys have been a great help. thanks in advance

1st does anybody know what color the metal header plate that attaches to the 68C front roof rail should be painted? I am fortunate to have a nice solid plate that only needs paint.

2nd was there a weather strip that attached to the header plate or on the top of the windshield frame on the 68C? Does anybody have a suggestion for what could be used as a replacement for this strip? I've found that the A400 and the 68C (and to some degree, the Vickies) shared some of the top parts. What was the answer to this question on the A400?

The metal header cover is black.
The rubber seal goes down in the channel on top of the header. Buy the header seal from Bob Drake for the V8. You will have to trim some of the "legs" off with a razor blade so it will seat down far enough.

I am pretty sure the header bow cover should be upper body color.

The seal that fits the channel is the Drake seal for the 36 conv sedan header. Fits the channel perfect just a bit long. I do not know what the exact original was as it think they all melted long ago.

I did not check judging standards on my answer which I should have done. I have taken them off of colored 68C and A400 and they have all been black. Luckily, mostly distinquishable but judging standards may see it another way.
Obviously, I yield to the JS if one is building their car for that.

Yes, being a judge you better go by the JS if you're showing your car BUT I don't think the JS are always 100% correct. The JS state (page 12-16) that genuine leather was not available in the 68C until after Oct. 1931. Yet ads published in June 1931 in large city newspaper stated that the A400 & 68C's were available with genuine crush grain brown leather on the seats. Did Ford advertise something they didn't have available?? I have a very early mimeographed copy of the JS from 1972 & leather is OK in all 68C's in that early release of the JS.
