Default wiring 46 ford risister to coil

changed motor from 8 ba to 59 a thought risister reduced voltage to coil but i get 6 vt both sides of risister green bible says .51 max ohms thats what my meter reads set at 1 k am i good to go with that any info is apreciated thanks

When reading voltage across the resistor the points need to be closed.
