Default 1941 ford, the "forgotten" year

I just recently purchased a 46k original survivor deluxe tudor and I am having a hard time finding any info on them. I have a thread already started about fender stainless, some have it and some do not. According to the numbers I have, there were 872,741 Fords built in '41 with the 90hp V8. My tudor, according to the numbers is the 55,351st built. I have three piece fenders, no extra trim but a cowl mirror and the script "super deluxe" on the fender. My wheels have two thin red pin stripes (original paint). Is there any place that has some knowledge on these year cars? Seems to be a lot for the '40 and '46-8's but not the '41's.

Hi - check out the EFV8 clubs book on 41s - it is a wealth of info.
Welcome to the 41 club - they are great rides !

I am in Canton Mi by the way and used to race historic sport cars at Waterford Hills race course by your area.

Best
John

Van,Finding 41 parts can be a challenge. They have many 41 only parts.having done two, a station wagon and a coupe I have found e..y a good source of the hard to find parts. The upside is that intrest in the 41 seems to be growing.Phil

41's were kind of ignored for a # of yrs,but I think theave come into their own lately.Lots of 1 yr only parts in them. Their great road cars and handle the hways much better than my 36. Had 2 of them,a 4 dr. + a coupe. The 3 pce. fenders are correct and no side or window ss on them earley ones. ken ct.

I know where there is a full set of NOS grilles (all three) with the covers for cold weather driving for sale. The guy is proud of them, and they are very, very nice pieces. If you are interested, let me know. He has some other '41 stuff as well, but most of his bits are '39 and '40.

The 1941 fender was first designed as a 3 piece unit. I read somewhere that this was because the lower front got damaged a lot in fender benders. In January 1941 the fender was 2 piece. Stainless trim was offered as an option. The trim was made standard on all Super Deluxe (not Standard and DeLuxe) March 24, 1941. Sounds like you have an early Super DeLuxe. As 1963turner said by all means BUY THE EFV8 BOOK!
It is a wealth of information

I've read (somewhere) that as Ford began to gear up for the war effort chrome plating was deleted. As stock chromed pieces were exhausted trim was supplied painted, until after the war.

The only way to determine a super deluxe is the bumpers. A lower portion of the bumper is am outside radius rib and the horn ring, super deluxe. Sam

4657 there are a lot of other ways. The Super DeLuxe has a window crank for the vent window, the steering wheel has a horn ring, trip odometer, clock, rear seat ash tray, assist straps at the doors for sedans, opening quarter windows on the sedan body, color wheels, additional exterior trim and as you mentioned, the bumpers

Joe , I think you are right on the Super Deluxe differences except the opening quarter windows. My Deluxe has them.

They are out there , a bit hard to find. It took me 2 yrs to find a great example still with very nice orig paint.

I would reach out to Mark Kicsak to see if he has one

I was told by a guy who knows, don't buy one unless it has all the pieces.

They have parts a little rarer to come by, but they are really fine cars, and a bit more spacious on the interior then the previous models 1940 and under.

I like them. I was wondering why the V-8 club did not make a book exclusive to this one-off "forgotten" year. Deserves its own book.
