Default Speedometer "lock" question

I have a 1929 speedometer that I had in my old CCPU before I rebuilt the PU into a huckster. When I put it in the huckster after the rebuild it broke the cable. So I replaced it with a rebuilt one.

Now the question is: Due to the fact the old speedometer still has the "lock" (the lead thing with a wire) on it, should I take this lock off and lubricate it or should I leave the lock on and sell it as original and will it have more value with the original lock on it?

Thanks for your ideas.

I've carefully pulled the wire through the lead seal, then lubed the speedometer and put the wire back through the lead. You may have to use a pin or needle to slightly enlarge the hole in the lead seal to get the wire back through it.

Thanks Tom. So it sounds like a speedometer with the lead seal on it does have more value. I will have to give your suggestion a try.
