Default 31 radiator shell inserts

I am taking apart the upper and lower insert's to the shell, and wondered if there is a trick to removing the stainless steel trim. Or should I leave it on and paint the parts with the trim attached. Thanks Ed Saniewski

if the panel is in good shape and not rusty leave the stainless on it if not. there was two different stainless moldings that I have found there could be more. one you can roll the stainless off, the other one takes a little more work because you have to open it up a little. once you get it off clean up the panel, put some good bare metal primer on the panel re install the stainless before you paint. Ford only put a thin coat of paint on them. if you paint it first it is pretty hard to get the stainless back on with out damaging the paint.
