Checking through my i.d. books of American cars, this one looks more like a Pontiac,c.1947 than an Olds, but I presume you are 100% concerning the make??
Pontiac made around 4 different models that year, all with different trim, so hard to say exactly. The Olds grilles of this era were a more chunky '' waterfall'' style. May be a Chev too, as Art says. |

Here is a link to Oldsmobiles through the century.
http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com/Oldsmobile/ 1949 certainly looks close, but Pontiacs, Chevys and Oldsmobiles were pretty close looking. I feel the Chevys all have their logo above the grill while the Olds do not appear to. |

OK, the split window to me seems 1940s.... i know he had an early 50s Olds, so this is clearly not it.

It is a 48 chev with the hood and trunk shaved. The 49 GM cars was a complete body change to a more modern body style. It also has fender skirts which did not come on it. It has been customized.

My Dad had a 48 chev. The 47 chev was about the same, but did not have the center bar in the middle of the grill. Fleet master had chrome strips on front and rear fenders.
