You also get a good look at the '51 dash and steering wheel when the detective gets in the car. Hood is a '49. You can see the remnants of the F O R D when Robert Mitchum is working on the engine in the garage. Would really like to know why someone went to all the trouble to piece all of that together.

Hi Guys, Is this the car? When I found the second photo, I think it was on another ford site, it had this caption: "The car is actually a 1951 Ford with a 49 Hood and 50 Grille & park lights."
In the third shot, it doesn't look like that's really in a complete car, the lighting is too good. So they had to have some 'car help.' Possibly when they cut some stuff up to make the sets, they mixed and matched a little. -VT/JeffH |
